On the 7th
of August, our little Marley died. He had cancer and it was time for him
to leave behind his tired, worn-out body. I was Marley’s foster mother
and I miss him. I don’t know anything about
Marley’s life before he came to CSAC but I do know these things:
Marley had ears that were so damaged by years of untreated infections
that he needed double ear canal ablations. Because of this he was profoundly
deaf. Some time during his life someone shot him. In x-rays you could see
about 20 BBs or pieces of buckshot under his skin. According to the vet,
a life of untreated illness and poor nutrition had left him very
frail and with a bad heart. I also know these things:
Marley loved his
food and knew when dinnertime was. He was always up for a meal or
snack.
He was also like
the Energizer Bunny who kept on going no matter how tired and sick he was.
He was a small and gentle dog who deserved a much better life than he
had. I am
thankful for the time we had with him. I am also very grateful that Cocker
Spaniel Adoption Center is there for all the Marleys who need
help.
